How To Maximize Your Kids’ School Break During The Rainy Season

Posted July 01, 2022 | First time home buyers

With the school year over for most kids and face-to-face classes about to start in a few months, this is the best time for you and your kids to spend quality time together (and lessen their screen time). The only catch? Their school vacation now coincides with our rainy season.

But don’t worry, parents! Here are a few ideas for bonding moments that you can still do with your kids regardless of the weather on the day. Just make sure to still observe health protocols like wearing masks, frequent hand sanitizing, and physical distancing for a safe family outing.

1. Take an educational trip

Even if it’s raining, you can still make it a day of fun and learning for your kids by taking them to a zoo, museum, or aquarium. Satisfy your kids’ curiosity about nature, science, art, and history by scheduling a visit to some of these local attractions, some of which have been recently renovated and reopened:

  • Manila Zoo
  • Avalon Zoo
  • National Museum
  • Mind Museum
  • Museo Pambata
  • Manila Ocean Park
  • Pinto Art Museum
  • Ayala Museum

Check their official website and social media pages for their updated schedules and fees. Better to book reservations in advance and set out an itinerary for a more seamless and enjoyable visit.

2. Spend some time in nature

What’s a good alternative to your family beach trip during summer break? Good thing the Philippines is blessed with so much natural beauty that we’re not confined to just beaches when we wish to spend more time with Mother Nature. Pack your bags and go glamping with your kids in some of the latest mountain glamping resorts that have popped up from Bulacan to Batangas. These glamping tents are usually sturdier (and waterproof) so you can still enjoy the outdoors even if there’s some rain. Enjoy mountain views, cool weather, and yummy food finds when you head up to Tagaytay or Baguio. Or take an invigorating dip in hot or cool springs in Laguna - the calm waters of a mountain spring can be as relaxing and soothing as ocean waves. The best part? Most of these nature resorts are usually off the grid and have no internet signal so you and your kids can spend more time talking and bonding offline.

3. Do activities together at home

You don’t need to go far to reconnect with your kids. With some imagination and a few simple items, you can spend quality time with them even without going out of the house. Schedule a games night when you can play board games or parlor games - divide the family between teams, keep score, and set a prize for more fun and excitement. Have a chill movie night where you can all gather around the couch with pillows, blankets, popcorn, and drinks. Teach your kids some basic life skills - cook and bake together, do chores together, do some arts and crafts, work out together, or even sing and dance together! Anything can be made fun and enjoyable with a little creativity and play involved.

We all wish to spend as much time as we can with our families despite our busy schedules. With the right home, your family can have a happy and secured home life. So when choosing a home, choose the best option that your family truly deserves - even if you are on a tight budget.
