1. Contain their mess
We already assume you are potty-training your pet - that’s the first step to make sure they don’t end up making a mess everywhere. When you’re done with that, you can add a few things to your home to avoid them from scattering dirt and germs. Place doormats so they can run over them when coming in from outside - you can’t exactly train them to rub their paws but atleast some of their dirt will be eliminated. Getting a lot of spills in their food and water bowl area? Why not put them in a tray for easy cleaning? The more catchment areas you can create, the less chance for them to spread their mess around the home.
2. Keep cleaning supplies on hand
Let’s face it - you have to clean up after your dog more times than you actually wish to. So it’s best to be prepared when these messy accidents occur. Use lint remover or latex gloves for removing fur on your sofa, throw pillows, and carpets. For stains such as pee and vomit, apply shaving cream and wipe off with warm water. Keep baby wipes handy for small spills. And for general cleaning, mix half water, half vinegar, and a few drops of dishwashing liquid for a pet-safe cleaner.
3. Invest in a vacuum cleaner
No matter how much we clean up after our dogs, we still might miss out on their hidden dirt. That’s when vacuum cleaners come to the rescue! The mean cleaning machines can spot even the smallest bits of dirt or fur residue. And depends on the type of dog you have, it’s best to vacuum daily or every other day to get rid of unwanted dirt right away.
